About Rev. Michael Ricks

Mike is too old to be in school, so he pretends to be young by hanging out with students - middle school, high school and college. Mike has enjoyed 17 years at Briarwood, first, as a part-time youth pastor and for the last 14 years as Associate Pastor with primary responsibilities for students, although, he has shown up at a JOY Club luncheon or two. It took him a little while, but he is married with two sons.

Michael is pictured with his number one son and student, Mac, taken at a former youth's wedding in North Carolina in '06. This picture was taken in a park by his adoring wife Betsy. Mike is a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Georgia . He enjoys reading books, taking pictures, and watching cars go around the track. His favorite thing about youth ministry is seeing students develop a passion for Christ. A close second is watching families grow together in a loving relationship.
