Briarwood Missions and EvangelismBriarwood began as a mission church and continues to be very involved in mission work of all types. Mission groups include Brotherhood, Women On Mission, Local Missions, Mission Trips and Projects. We also take up offerings for state missions, foreign missions (Lottie Moon), and home missions (Annie Armstrong). If you are interested in serving in any of the following areas, please contact our church office at 706-769-7660. A.C.T.S. (Area Churches Together Serving)A ministry to aid people in need in Oconee County A.C.T.S. is a ministry of Oconee County churches, which, by working together, enables us to give a helping hand to individuals and families in need. As a participating congregation, we provide regular contributions of materials (food and clothing)) and financial support as well as volunteers to operate the collection and distribution center. The distribution center is located at 200 South Thompson Street in front of the Bogart Library next to the Bogart Baseball Complex. It is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 am - 1 pm. A referral is required for assistance and must come from an A.C.T.S. church or by Oconee County Social Service Agencies, such as DFACS and ACTION. JAIL MINISTRYEvery Saturday morning during the month of June our church visits the local jail to give a devotional to the inmates.
MERCY HEALTH RESOURCE CENTERMercy is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian health center providing care for the uninsured in and around Athens, GA. First and foremost, Mercy Health Center is about ministry - carrying on Christ's healing ministry in our community and sharing His love with our neighbors. They do this through providing medical, pharmacy, and dental care. Our church supports this organization by providing meals to the volunteers who serve. WOMEN ON MISSIONNext meeting: March 13, 2012.
