Music Ministry
Our Philosophy: At Briarwood we believe that music plays an integral role in the worshipping life of every believer. Our worship services incorporate a broad variety of musical styles with the express intent of exalting the Lord and helping to engage the believer in meaningful, heart-felt worship. We believe that the Lord receives pleasure from hearing the voices of His children corporately express the rich biblical truths found in both the great hymns of the faith and thoughtfully written modern hymns and choruses. We desire to be characterized as a singing church. Scripture states: 1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, Psalms 92:1-4 Whether you sing or play an instrument, or simply have a desire to help lead in worship, Briarwood’s music and worship ministry has room for you. Worship Choir:This group functions as the primary worship leading ensemble for Sunday morning services. We rehearse each Wednesday evening from 6:05 -7:30 pm in the sanctuary. Our desire is to grow both spiritually and musically. You do not have to know how to read music to participate in this ensemble. Just come with a willing heart ready for a good time of both worship and fellowship. Student Choir:Stay tuned for details on the new Student Choir that will rehearse on Sundays at 5 pm in the Choir Room. We have some plans for Christmas and you will have a great time each week as we get together and do a little singing. Handbell Choir:The handbell choir meets at various times throughout the school year to prepare pieces that are incorporated in both regular and special seasonal worship services. Practices are Sundays at 6 pm in Room 302. There is also a children's Handbell Choir for 4th-6th graders at 5 pm in Room 302. M-n-M:At Briarwood, we believe it is crucial to invest in the spiritual lives of our children. Our M-n-M (Music-n-Missions) program is a place for kids (Ages 4 years old through 6) to learn about the Lord, grow in their faith, as well as deepen their understanding of what it means to worship. This groups meets on Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm in the choir room during the school year, to prepare dynamic songs for worship as well as high-energy dramatic productions. Instrumentalists:Do you play an instrument, and desire to use that ability to serve the Lord? If so, Briarwood can use you. We are always looking for instrumentalists to help lead our congregation in corporate worship. Whether you enjoy playing either solos or in the context of an ensemble, opportunities to serve abound. Our Praise Band meets at 4 pm in the Sanctuary. Media Team:Our media team is the backbone to helping our worship services run smoothly. Perhaps the Lord has blessed you with knowledge of computers, audio and/or video equipment. Or perhaps He has given you the desire to learn and help lead worship in this vital ministry role. You do not have to have an extensive knowledge of media equipment in order to serve. Our knowledgeable team members will gladly help train you!
